Just have one bookmarks folder both for mobile and desktop browser, having an additional "desktop bookmarks" folder on your phone just makes the whole process of adding bookmarks that much longer, if you want them added to an overall bookmarks folder, which is the whole point of syncing devices is it not? (If anything, have a "mobile bookmarks" folder, for if you want to only add the bookmark to your mobile, and let the user choose under settings (on firefox on their mobile) where the bookmarks by default go to.

I second this. It takes me 4 taps to access my desktop bookmarks on FF mobile, 2 taps with Edge and only 1 tap with Vivaldi. Edge remembers what folder I was last using, and Firefox completely forgets every time. It's a bit ridiculous how many steps it takes to do something as basic as opening a desktop bookmark.

I'd definitely prefer this. As it stands right now I just edit every bookmark after I make it to change the folder to desktop.

I have been wanting this feature for many years now.

Is there a reason we haven’t even gotten an official response on this after seeing the topic come up for years?  This is an immediate turn off and possibly delete for a new user.  Does nobody else care that they don’t have their bookmarks easily accessible between experiences?  I find that very hard to believe as all other browsers have your bookmarks presented at the top level as they are in the desktop experience.

I totally agree with this idea. In the modern age of seamless cloud applications there should be no difference between mobile and desktop apps.

Not only should be bookmark on mobile mirrors the ones on the desktop, it should also be just as easy to manage them.
Clicking on edit after the bookmark is created and then try to navigate the sea of open folder with open subfolders and open subsubfolders are a pain.
It should be "add bookmark" then be greeted with the edit page so we can then place it in the proper folder which are closed by default and only opened when selected.

Came here after reading 15 superficial articles about easy syncing bookmarks without mentioning this missing feature.

So mobile bookmarks sync with desktop.

Desktop bookmarks sync with mobile.

But mobile bookmarks do NOT sync with desktop bookmarks.

Think I'll experiment with Floccus instead.

I just switched from chrome to firefox and this is the first problem I have.

I don't consider this request to a feature, but rather a bug fix. The current design is not only, as noted above, extremely cumbersome; but it also defies the meaning of "sync." The desktop bookmarks are not synced; they have two additional (needless) levels of hierarchy, and additional sibling folders that don't match what's on the desktop.

I AGREE !

I've stopped using Firefox multiple times because of this feature (and also the fact that it keeps opening multiple tabs).

I manage all my bookmarks into "personal bar" so I want to use only this !
When I want to open a bookmark on my phone I need to click on :

Desktop bookmarks

Then personal bar

Before having my bookmarks, EACH time. This is annoying ...

There are actually zero reasons for having separate mobile and desktop bookmarks. Zero. It's not an outdated feature. It was already dump back in the day when it was implemented.

Please fix it. Millions of people waste thousands of workhours everyday trying to keep their bookmarks in order
