Here’s the thing: we all need ##tags Imagine a world where you can tag every email—both sent and received—effortlessly. Let that sink in for a moment. Why? Because tags allow you to make sense of messages on your terms. Picture this:

• Messages with vague or misleading subjects? Doesn’t matter. You can categorize them in ways that actually make sense to you.
• The magic of multiple tags: One email can live in multiple worlds—tag it as both #NotreDame and #People, for instance. It's no longer confined to just one category.
• You already use this system elsewhere—think about how we organize photos, music, or notes. Tags bring clarity to chaos, and they work across vast, complex systems.

Folders? They’re an outdated concept. They focus on "where" a message goes—like putting something away, out of sight. But tags? They emphasize the "what." They capture the true essence of the email. Tags do everything folders can, but folders can never do what tags can.

The way we currently use tags in emails is so limited—too limited. We deserve something far more powerful, something that mirrors how we think and organize in the real world, which must be flexible, chaning.

This is one of the biggest reasons I stick with GMail, even if it's tag implementation is incomplete.  And local AI (not remote AI, local, as someone correctly pointed out those models are not private), would help us generate those tags and just remove ones we don't want.
