Currently, when I'm in airplane mode or disconnected, the app doesn't tell me that the server can't be reached. Even when manually refreshing/fetching.

Which I find very misleading and unfortunately makes the app seem less reliable to me.

My current workaround is to do a random server search and get the following warning: "A network connection is required for the server search".

Now that the error message can be displayed during a server search, I'd like to suggest that it also be displayed when manually fetching new emails.

Thank you for all your great work!

I would rather have it be done by a small TCP connection request than search, to a totally unrelated server. From the client's perspective, it is no different to be disconnected from _one_ server and the _whole internet_. There might be people who also use this software in the intranet (just like a lot of Mozilla software). Using _search_ function for determining the connection status would be incredibly wasteful and would likely do a Distributed Denial of Service on the poor person's IMAP server.
