Is there a chance of a lite version of thunderbird? Much as TB is know except calander, tasks and chat has been removed. Would this complicate life for developers?
Something clean and crisp, with a modern design but without a lot of frills -- not unlike Geary -- would be welcome. Then re-implement extra features (calendar, reminders, etc.) as optional plugins, perhaps?
Yeah, easy for me to say. I don't have to write the code. 8-)
It might be time for a lighter version of Thunderbird that JUST handles the basics without the calendars, chat, and just handles the basics since 102.2.2 is SOOOOO Slow & has become weighted down to be come unresponsive with all the "improvements" that some "programmers" think are a "good idea". So keep the main one and spin off a version renamed To be a speed demon with the same storage, Dark/light modes, nntp, address book... working filters, spellcheck, but no calendar and no other plugs. As it is now it takes over 4 HOURS! to handle 4 email accounts with sorting of emails into various folders. Helluvaway to waste time and eat up a day.
My emails are text only and this cripples thunderbird, loading the text only emails makes thunderbird grind to a halt almost. It would be good if the "download headers only" feature could be put back which used to be in older versions. Why it was taken out is beyond me.
Why text only? no one knows you read the emails because the pixel tags aren't loaded 😉 therefore no tracking of your email.
I too would love a "Lite" version of Thunderbird. I have been using TBird for donkey years. It keeps growing with stuff I don't need or want and I keep getting older, and sadly, slowing down in my ability - and interest - in fancy new features. I am 80 years old.
All I really want is s tripped down mail program.
I would think an old version from Windows 7 would probably serve perfecty?
