Show Bookmarks Toolbar on any new tab

Currently the Bookmarks Toolbar option to "Only show on New Tab" is, depending on how you look at it, either not as useful as it could be or misleading.

It would be ideal to extend the option to encompass all new tabs, not just Firefox Home. I prefer new tabs to be a blank page, but I would like the Bookmarks Toolbar to appear and then disappear as this setting would seem to enable.

Failing that, it would be much less confusing to label the option "Only show on Firefox Home." This would avoid the confusion I and others (e.g., 1 and 2) have had trying to figure out why the option wasn't working.

It would also be great if CTRL-SHIFT-B toggled between Always and the prior setting, not Always and Never. This way you could flash the Bookmarks Toolbar in an existing tab to click somewhere else, but then it would disappear again.

Alternatively, another key sequence to enable the Bookmarks Toolbar temporarily in the current tab only would be great.

@tjkopena: If you want your ideas to have a chance to be implemented, you should consider:

1/ Look for an existing ticket and kudo it

2/ create a new ticket

Commenting a ticket with a side idea has no chance.

I don't understand your first point but I would vote for your second point (temporary show / hide after the action is down, actually I would see it as an option which says how to always interpret ctrl+b => "auto hide after action or not" in order to avoid too many keyboard shortcuts)

I would (re-)move this comment in your new ticket (to keep this ticket clean) if you give me the new ticket number

I completely agree. I just assumed this was a broken feature as the bookmarks bar never showed up on a new tab (as the option suggests).

Ideally this feature works as only displaying the bookmark bar when a new tab is open, but once a URL is loaded it hides away to give more room for the page itself.
