I was wondering about the ability to activate the reader mode while viewing PDF files on Firefox. I want it to allow me to add the same tools and filters used on webpages reader mode to PDF files, like text-to-speach.

I believe this is already in development. I accidentaly discovered that in Nightly 114 the Reader Mode button appears when Firefox detects its a readable PDF file opened. See screen recording: https://imgur.com/D2h4FPd
I don't know if this is a bug, or something being worked on... Still can't show all the file's text, but I see a bright future from here! I'm excited.
@PedroSaldanha delayed response here, sorry! But looks like this is something on the team's roadmap/backlog right now. We'll update the thread when there's movement.
I love Firefox’s reader view for web pages. The only problem is that I can’t use it for PDF files. It would be amazing to use Firefox’s reader view when using Firefox to read PDFs. Please add this! If so, thank you so much. 😄
doqment PDF Reader: Firefox's PDF viewer with reader mode
I created a PDF reader extension, building on top of Firefox's own PDF viewer, which can render PDFs in different light and dark themes like Firefox's reader view, like @Nickinator commented. It can't change the font or spacing (which is very hard to do in PDF files), but it sure can change the colors. Please try it out!
