Firefox version 122.0 introduces a new feature: "Firefox now displays images and descriptions for search suggestions when provided by the search engine."

This seems to be a Google-specific feature. No guidance has been provided for other search engines.

I don't think there is a standard for this, and Firefox's feature was developed by reviewing Chromium source code. (Bug 1626897)

Currently, Firefox detects rich data by checking for a specifically named element:

"google:suggestdetail"

See: https://searchfox.org/mozilla-release/source/toolkit/components/search/SearchSuggestionController.sy...

You can download a sample Google suggestion file from

https://www.google.com/complete/search?client=firefox&q=taylor&channel=fen

for more context and experimentation.

I don't know whether anyone is working on standardizing this.
