Status: New idea

Outlook now uses OAuth2/Modern Auth for SMTP servers, which Thunderbird does not offer. This means I cannot send emails from one of my oldest  and most widely spread email addresses.

Thunderbird is always asking for donations; I have never donated. If (and only if) you update your protocols so I can continue to use my Outlook (Hotmail) address, I will finally send you some money.

I know you have no reason to trust me, but take a chance. Maybe I can restore some of your faith ion the decency of humanity---after you restore my email access.

as workaround I use davmail and it allows me to continue to use Thunderbird as it is unreplacable 🙂

If you set the outlook SMTP server to smtp.office365.com and restart Thunderbird, OAuth is available.

Just a shame you are posting here instead of in the support forum where you could have received this answer weeks ago.

There is a support article here addressing the topic as well.
