You must allow folks to permanently disable the incessant requests to update to the latest version of Firefox. How about a 3rd option besides Dismiss and Download..."No. Do not ask me again"

Don't understand how folks deal with multiple popups each day.

Hello

From Firefox 63 https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/63.0/releasenotes
The option to Never check for updates was removed from about:preferences. You can use the DisableAppUpdate enterprise policy as a substitute.
DisableAppUpdate https://mozilla.github.io/policy-templates/#disableappupdate

Other illustration Option 1: Disable Updates using Enterprise Policy JSON

From Thunderbird 68 https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/68.0/releasenotes
Added a policy engine that allows customized Thunderbird deployments in enterprise environments, using Windows Group Policy or a cross-platform JSON file.

Thanks for the enterprise disableappupdate.

It is unfortunate that Firefox does not make a distinction between security updates and nonessential updates.

Basically, I Iiked the way it looked before the ridiculous update. I don't care about all the improvements, it was really good before the updates. If it doesn't look the way you want it to, then all the updates in the world amount for nought. I shall keep the old version until no security updates make it dangerous and then I will look elsewhere. What is wrong with the people designing thunderbird now!!. Why have you gone against what people want!

I DO want the updates, but I'd like downloads to be done in the background without asking (and there should be a setting to turn this off or on, based on user preferences). Then, when the update is ready to implement, notify me AND give the ability to PAUSE the update (remind me in xx hours or xx days).

Right now I have to dismiss the update entirely because because it's covering part of the screen I need to access what I'm working on now.

P.S. I don't understand why people in this thread are talking about Thunderbird. Thought this post was for Mozilla Firefox...?

Hello

Enable background updates on Firefox for Windows when Firefox is not running
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enable-background-updates-firefox-windows

If you're experimenting, take a look at the
Mozilla in the Windows Task Scheduler library

The background update task checks for Firefox updates when Firefox is not running. This task is installed automatically by Firefox and is reinstalled when Firefox runs. To disable this task, update your browser settings or the Firefox corporate policy setting "BackgroundAppUpdate"

BackgroundAppUpdate https://mozilla.github.io/policy-templates/#backgroundappupdate

If you have disabled updates via DisableAppUpdate or disabled automatic updates via AppAutoUpdate, this policy has no effect

I find it particularly annoying if Firefox incessantly prompts for updates which won't work for me, like the latest 128.0.3 version, with uses all my RAM and takes decades to load.
I don't have the time to test which of the numerous add-ons I am using slows down firefox, and using the browser without the add-ons bothers me.
Firefox, either prompt me for a stable version, or leave it!
Regarding the update message:
Besides the button directing to "what's new in this version", you could add a button offering "remind me in" and a drop-down menu offering options ranging from 1 hour to 1 day.

With all of the great things Mozilla has brought to making the surfing experience the best ever, it is beyond comprehension how they could have come up with this irritating and aggravating Update Notice. I, and every last one of your subscribers, expect and deserve better. Please make it right or eliminate it.

Totally agree! each time I open another browser page it is so annoying to have to constantly 'dismiss' as I don't want to update again. I have been using Firefox and Thunderbird as my primary programmes for years, constant updating apart from security issues is really annoying as the last time I updated Firefox I LOST ALL MY BOOKMARKS AND AM FURIOUS!

Considered deleting Firefox, tried Opera = worse and totally invasive, tried to install an older version of Firefox but you make it too difficult and time consuming.

Leave the basics as they are, updates are rarely an advantage: many prefer the familiar!
