Native Tab Grouping / More Customizable Tab bar

I'm personally a heavy tab user but have always wondered why there is almost no support for tab grouping or customization in the native tab bar in Firefox.

I think making it able to group like Google Chrome does for example or at least giving more access for extensions and add-ons would significantly improve the UI in that regard.

@OGI don't know if I can explain this in English, but I would prefer native tree-style vertical tabs, and horizontal ones should be formed as follows:

Vertical:

Tab1
- Tab2
  - Tab3
Tab4
- Tab5

Horizontal:

[Tab1 Tab2 Tab3][Tab4 Tab5]

 Where "[...]" is a group. IMHO, tree-style tabs are better than groups.

Yes. Lack of tab grouping in 2024 is too silly. All other browsers provide this option (do not know about Safari). Please  include native tab grouping in one of the updates asap. Thanks

Native Tab Grouping

There are so many ideas submitted already asking for native tab group feature in Firefox. For some reason, Firefox is ignoring it. Why? I do not want to use a third-party extension to do a simple thing like this. I cannot trust a lot of third-party extensions. Privacy is key.

@aminoughtI tested the Tree Style Tabs add-on and it was interesting. I might use it several times a year. May I know why don't you just use the add-on?

 I understand having it as a native feature means more long term support because add-ons vanish sometimes, and honestly even though I might not use tree style tabs a lot, but I will definitely use it several times a year and I would be so thankful for it because whenever I am digging in a Rabbit hole of links like when I am reading about a new topic on Wikipedia and then I have to read about sooo many different things to understand that topic, I usually keep clicking those blue terms and then get lost on which order I should read them. and having a tree style tab view would help me see where I am at that research.

@OG  Having a third party extension, besides the potential lack of long term support that you have mentioned in your post, is less ideal for security reasons too. Yes, they are vetted through the process and all that but I am very uncomfortable using a third party extension to have access to some of my tabs. I really hope Firefox will release this tab grouping and also customization option (i.e. to have nice wallpapers). I know currently there is a workaround to have wallpapers. Again, it's unnecessarily cumbersome. The market is flooded with a lot of Chromium based browsers and I really want Firefox to bring the browser to parity. I want to be a long-term firefox user.

@OG, in Chrome, I use a tab group for each of my classes, as well as tab groups for major topics I'm currently planning or teaching, and a tab group with administrative pages. Having the groups means less clicking around trying to (remember and) get back to the right page of my slideshow or the LMS for that class. It also means that I can close/hide tab groups to reduce the number of tabs open without losing the collection of pages I was using to try to figure out how best to teach a concept.

I use Google Chrome. And they have this feature where you can group tabs. Can you add that to the Firefox? It would be much appreciated! I bet @Vinci480 would agree.

It would make work a lot easier and easier to organize if there was tab groups in Firefox like Safari does.
