Merge contact info in Thunderbird address book

Over the years my Address Book has acquired two or more separate entries for the same individual, some with obsolete email addresses, for example. Also, one with email address only, and another with phone number, plus various pieces of contact data (sometimes conflicting info) in one or both cards. If there is a way to compare, choose correct data, and combine contact files, I can't find it. If not, I'd like to propose an enhancement. Thank you.

I would also like to see this optrion. I can do this tghorugh the gmail interface, however I woujld love to do thjis in thunderbirtd and push tghe updates to the gmail websitge making an exact 1 and or 2 way sync between the two.
