Formatting e-mails in Thunderbird (as in Outlook)

Dear developers, dear community,
What I have been missing for a long time is a modern and advanced way of formatting texts in emails similar to Outlook.
The possibilities in Thunderbird remind me of Netscape, which created rudimentary possibilities several decades ago, if anyone still remembers.
Outlook is unfortunately light years ahead of Thunderbird in this respect. This applies to font sizes in pt, highlighting, indentation, assignment of tasks/mentions (@xyz: ...) and much more.
Wouldn't it be time for Thunderbird to catch up here? Not everyone is a computer nerd and likes the old way of doing things.
For my part, I would like to stay loyal to TB, but I also don't want to miss out on the latest features.
