I'm an Android user so I'm not sure what the situation is for IOS but, on Android at least, you can't change download location. This is really annoying as I have to constantly move files after downloading. Please fix this.
On android there's currently no way to choose the save location for files, nor is there an option to rename files before saving them. No social media sites add an automatic tag to an image to show which user it belongs to, so this would be a very convenient feature.
This should be a basic feature in any browser, ideally in the browser's settling UI. The fact that you can't even do this in about:config is mind boggling.
For all the people who wants to choose where to download files from Firefox - I made this little thing that will help. It's completely free, but you need to download Automate app and flow created by me. Then just run the flow, choose folder where files are now downloaded and then choose where you want to move them.
I know Android totally s**ts the bed on access to storage, but apps cando it (albeit in their little data jails).
I understand that there are some control freaks out there that expect granular control over exactly where their files are download to (i.e. anyone who's used any other browser ever), but I'm sure the vast majority will put down their pitchforks if they can just select Internal vs. SD Card.
I really hope someone from Mozilla can ram this through, or at least entertain us with the reason why less is more and restriction is freedom - as is the custom in the age of ens**tification.
I want this to be implemented. I am currently moving my fans over from Google Chrome and thought to download something while in Firefox. It just downloaded and stored itself in the downloads folder.
What I will say that's different from the comments I've seen is I also use the "ask where to store files" function as a way to prevent unwanted files from automatically downloading on my device.
In my eyes it's not just a convenience issue but a security one.
