Going through my filters in Thunderbird (desktop), I wondered that the option to let spam mails be automatically deleted from the server is no more available?

Am I wrong or was that option possible a few months ago?

Receiving a lot of spam that could be automatically deleted (or prevented from downloading from the server) is a crucial option for filters. Especially for those emails that have already been marked as such by the provider or server software. That option should be brought back to life again!

I suggest you look at the existing setting in account settings junk.  Automatic deletion has been a feature for at least 10 years,  but probably significantly longer.

Thanks, @MattAuSupport !

Can you please give me some hints where I can find those settings?
There are no such settings available in the "Extras"/"Filters" section, nor in the "account settings"/"Junk Filter" preferences?

I'm using TB Vers. 128.5.2esr (64 Bit) on Win10.
...Maybe I'm just blind to see?!

Like I said.

Account settings > junk Settings.

Thanks Matt!

Yes, I found that, but that means, that I have to download all the junk mails anyway... My provider marks spam mails with the phrase "*** SPAM ***" in the subject line with some anti-spam software. So I wonder why I cannot let these mails be automatically deleted from the server by filters or somehow else to prevent downloading spam.

As far as I can remember, that was possible to set that in the filters in previous versions of "Thunderbird", like "If subject stars with '*** SPAM ***', delete from server". This setting now has disappeared from the filter preferences?! Is that possible?

To have the option of direct deletion of so marked mails would prevent downloading faulty or malicious spam mails to the PC in the first place, instead to let them on the pc, not even for 14 days?!

Thanks!

Have you considered you are talking about server side filtering.  It is something most providers support if you actually trust their filtering to the point you never want to see the mail they detect, even if it is from your sister or mother.  I have dealt with both things for Yahoo customers over the years, family emails are considered spam.

If you want your provider detected spam to be auto deleted you should be taking it up with them if they do not already provide the service.

That's a question for your mail provider.

You can enable "Trust junk mail headers" in "Junk Settings", which will allow Thunderbird to delete them on download.
