It would be great if there was a way to customize hotkeys.
Here's how I see it:
 * Have a about:hotkeys panel, with all actions listed, and already mapped shortcuts shown.
 * Whether these should be modifiable or not is up to the dev community, ideally they'd be.
 * When clicking on a hotkey field, ideally, there would be a capturing hotkey feature, or, before this, an AHK like syntax to define hotkeys (not as complex, something like: CTRL+H means this and MAJ+ALT+END means that...)

 * a restore to default button.
 * Done.

It can't be done with an extension because some function can't be accessed by extensions (I'm actually looking for a way to send tab to other device while browsing with TST.). Anyway, I believe this should boost productivity in a number of ways. You guys are devs, you know keyboards are faster than mice. 😛

edit: Corrected the typos, it's been bugging me for months now😅

I can't express how much frustration configurable shortcuts could save. Vimmatic uses shift+escape to blacklist websites, and it's interferes with firefox's keybinds. Same happens with cmd+shift+s, same happens in bunch f different extensions. Please. Please!

This has been running since at least 2022 and was requested by Mozilla apparently. So, here we are, two years later, with a clear consensus that user hotkeys are wanted yet no response or feedback. What was the point of even replying?

One up! This would be such a good feature, I'd love to have it in Firefox.

Compared to operating systems' hotkeys, I strongly disagree. Users would then have no way to tell each other what keys to push for specified commands. Do you understand?

I want fully customizable shortcuts in Firefox. ALL.

I have been waiting for this feature for a long time. I get frustrated time to time    due to lack of custom hotkeys. Why is it taking so long?

I agree. I'm surprised this year is over 2 years old and to this day there is not a feature implemented on the browser.

As long as it does not crash any other programs, commands, users, interfaces, drivers, or operating systems, I am for the idea. I still fear that having customizable hotkeys will make user interfaces crash, unless you can override systems' and programs' default hotkeys. Get the picture? It is why my team loves DOS3.1, BlackBerry-OS2, and UNIX. It is also where we plan on helping users provide their own legal services. Would that not be extraordinary?

+1 for this feature.

Many apps allow users to customize in-app shortcuts.

If contributors and developers are finding it challenging to roll out a thorough, polished solution, the core maintainers should consider allowing for partial solutions for functions that are frequently used (e.g., ctrl+tab – cycle thru most recently used tabs)
