Having customizable colors for new received messages in Mozilla ThunderBird would be a huge plus for users.

It would allow users to easily identify new messages at a glance, making it easier to manage their inbox and stay organized.

This feature would be especially helpful for users who receive a large volume of emails or who need to quickly identify important messages.

Additionally, it would allow users to personalize their inbox experience and make it more visually appealing.

the green little dot is not enough in my humble opinion, also, if we could have the opportunity to ad a color line around the square of the message, that would be perfect, so when we have new message, we would have a colored border on the message AND also the little dot (but we would can choose the color of both of them 🙂

(You could also add the option to switch between this form of colored new message, or the old, so people that want sobriety would have the possibility to choose too)

thanks in advance,

regards

YR

If you modify userChrome.css, then, restart Thunderbird

Hello!

I understand your point of view. Modifying the userChrome.css file can be a solution, but it's not ideal for all users.

Creating an option with a form to customize the colors would be a great idea. This would make the experience more accessible and user-friendly.

I hope this feature will be available soon!

I'm with @YR on this one. I'm glad that userChrome.css is available for those who want to really dig in to advanced changes, but I would say it's not ideal for most users. Simple tasks like changing the highlight colors of read or unread messages should be doable in the GUI.

Thanks a lot for your support @Beardmancer

And still, for the userChrome.css, it's hard to make it work! even if i'm a developer, i never had it working anywhere even after multiple try, so, if i cannot, other's usual user may have a very hard time to make it work.

We need a setup to change this directly from the settings ! and the worst part is that i noticed since my last message that messages are sometime in blue, (i think that's due to the fact that that was new message arrived since my last thunderbird openning) but then, it will go to regular "unseen" design with just the little dot :

and then :

This is really not the most clever thing to do in my own opinion
