Starting release of Firefox 127.0 the “browser.privateWindowSeparation.enabled” preference stopped working (I believe it was removed in the commit here: https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/rMOZILLACENTRAL8adde2b08299cbe12d25785fcb0efdabb0057766) and now Firefox private and normal windows have their separate icon in the Windows taskbar. Could you restore that functionality? If not by bringing back the “browser.privateWindowSeparation.enabled” preference on the about:config page, then e.g. add a new setting on the Firefox settings page that does the same thing.

Thank you @Venetia and I apologize for any rudeness if when I was speaking about this problem and I thank you for inputing my feedback to the team and I hope when the next update comes soon they will solve the Private Tab disappearance issues when I close the FireFox app on my IoS device or Iphone and while I’m speaking on the matter would you mind fixing this for all Mobile Phone users not just Iphone but Android users as well as this was a thing for all Phone Users before your update screwed it up I’m not sure why the Mozilla Team thought that was good idea when they put out their update but definitely appreciate when they fix the Problems with Private Tabs just being deleted and going to Standard Tabs by default when I exit the FireFox App on my Iphone and thanks again for finally putting this problem to the team it’s been a huge bug for me and a lot of mobile users for awhile now

We initially removed this pref because it was experimental.

However, due to popular demand, we are bringing it back. We are letting it ride Fx128 Beta to ensure it functions as intended before it goes into the release channel. For this reason, it will not be added to the Fx127 dot release next week.

Thank you all for your patience and continued support.

It works on the latest nightly version. Thank you.

Please please please add a grouping tabs feature. That's the one thing that makes me quit using firefox here and there. It's very frustrating being one of the only popular browsers that doesn't have this feature. Other than that, firefox would be my first choice always.

@Mrdan827 there's a separate thread for that here: Native Tab Grouping / More Customizable Tab bar

And good news, it's currently being worked on! Feel free to follow that thread for more updates as they become available 😃

It's one of the few reasons I still use Chrome. I like the ability to group my tabs; which's very much different than using the OneTab extension (in case someone suggest that).

I'm also very curious as to the complications (or conflicts) of having it reinstated are. In other words, what might be compromised, delayed, broken, etc. if this feature is reinstated.

Thanks for the fix.

The other configs can be bring back too? Like browser.privatebrowsing.enable-new-indicator?

I'm testing the 128 nightly version and this won't work yet.

Thanks at all!

Hi just to clarify @Venetia for when you say the next patch for the pref 127.0.2 will this next update finally fix the problem for IoS I have described before where the private tabs keep being automatically deleted when restarting or exiting the FireFox mobile app for Iphone or is it just the windows config?

@Supreme_StarIt is for the windows config.
