Previous versions of Firefox defaulted to allow a temp copy of a file (e.g. an excel SS) to be saved and opened instead of manually finding a location. Can this feature be turned on in the current Firefox release?

Thanks

Craig

Hi Craig, Firefox's default behavior is to save files and let you choose what to do with them afterwards. However, if you switch the action for Excel spreadsheets to "Use Excel", then Firefox should not bother you about choosing a folder for those, but instead save automatically in the default download folder indicated on the Settings page. This article has the steps if you want to test it out:

The old behavior can be restored by setting browser.download.start_downloads_in_tmp_dir to true in about:config, but having a regular setting would be nice.
