Add option to

  • remove the home button (🏠) from the menu bar
  • add functionality to the menu bar (e.g. browser add on menu, history, close browser, specific addon (e.g. screen reader), ...)

Why: This would allow users to fully customize and utilize the sparse mobile screen real estate. The current "home menu" does little for the proficient firefox mobile user, as it's provided functionality is practically useless and can be furthermore invoked via various other ways.

Remove, replace or add a toggle for the address bar/toolbar home button on mobile/android

I'm not against having something there, but I've never used or saw a need for the home button. Sadly, it feels like a waste of space. I'd rather be able to read more of the URL, or have an actually useful button there. For comparison, Vivaldi does something interesting: it has a sidebar-like button that opens a floating menu with easy and quick access to bookmarks, history, downloads, translator, and so on, all without having to "leave" the currently open webpage. Also, it has a separate home/start button you can toggle on and off in the settings.

This Idea is meant to serve a general interest gauge among FF users in doing something specifically about the home button.

I posted a similar idea a few days earlier, but it seems that hasn't been approved yet. @Jon probably should merge that into this one, or delete mine from the queue—I'm sorry, I can't find any delete button on my end.

I'm including what I posted since it seems relevant to the discussion.
