Pretty much every ad and tracker blocker - uBO, AdGuard, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, Disconnect, et al - have a count of blocked elements on their icon, ETP should follow the industry standard method and display a count on its shield. Obviously you can click on the shield itself and see the detail, but it would be better to have a constant real-time indication.

If displaying a number would be too difficult to implement it would be an improvement if instead of the outline of the shield changing colour when it's doing anything, which is subtle and easy to not notice, it filled-in solid.

I'm new to submitting ideas for FF, so please excuse my ignorance, but how does this process work?  Are a certain number of votes required for it to be considered?  Is there some other decision criteria applied?  It seems unlikely I'm the first person to suggest a blocked count on the shield, but had others done so before I assume someone would have referred me to the other request(s).  Thus far that hasn't happened though.

I'm just trying to get an understanding of this process.  I feel that would be a really good update, I'm not sure what to expect at this point.
