A password to get into our list of passwords

Especially if you live with other people, it seems to me it would be helpful to have to use a password to get into your list of passwords on Firefox.  As things stand, I have to either log out of Firefox OR my computer in order to prevent someone getting hold of my passwords if I happen to walk away from my desk for a few minutes!  ......   Or am I missing something?!!!

@ew8moz  you probably want to Use a Primary Password to protect stored logins and passwords . However, the only reliable way to secure yourself is to lock your system, even if you walk away for a few moments. I have personally seen people running to my unlocked PC even when I was still standing next to it! On Windows or Linux you can press Windows+L key to lock your account quickly. Hope that helps 🙂

In Opera GX, to access passwords the user must enter the system password. In Firefox the user just needs to be logged into the system giving unrestricted access to every login. Encryption and password protection of the logins would be extremely useful

Firefox has an optional feature called Primary Password which is independent of your system login. It probably would be simpler to use the system login and keep Primary Password as a backup for people who don't set up a login.

Firefox needs to protect the passwords, anyone could open my passwords by just clicking on it and they would have free reign to all my accounts

The password tab I'm referring to is the one located in the application menu, beneath the downloads tab.

I thought this security flaw would be a temporary thing but it's been like this for quite some time. Please fix. Firefox will ask for a primary password (if enabled) when you boot up the app. So most users who utilize auto-fill features will enter that in or may not even have a primary password for it. After doing so it does not require you to enter it again if the user clicks on the 'password' tab. It should require your primary password EVERY TIME you want access to that tab! It exposes all the usernames and passwords -there should be some basic protection around that. Thanks!

If you ever figure out how to protect passwords under Firefox let me know. Should not be able to click passwords and seeing all your passwords without some kind of pin number or password and talking about the master password which sucks on every page you go to you have to enter the master password.
