Before the latest updates, when we needed to bookmark a website, we were able to simply click on the star icon on the right of the URL field and choose both location and tags for the new bookmark. Now instead there is not even an option to choose the tags. But instead if we want to add tags, we have to go through the "bookmark manager" which is much more convoluted as an option and time consuming. Is this change going to be permanent? I believe the loss of funcionality is not an improvement unfortunately

Firefox sucks. I can no longer add a bookmark to my drop down Bookmark Menu and choose a New Folder to out it in. Secondly, I have tried CTRL D and tried clicking on the star in the address bar but there is no dialog box to add the bookmark. So, after all these years of using Mozilla, I'm no longer able to use Firefox again.
What can be done to add a book mark to a specific folder now and how do I select a web page from my bookmarks drop down menu? Pls help

This is Firefox 132.0.1:—
If you aren't seeing it open about:config and set browser.bookmarks.editDialog.showForNewBookmarks to true.

Type about:config into the search/URL box. That will probably then show a warning that you have to acknowledge. After that a screen comes up with a search box at the top. Paste or start to type browser.bookmarks.editDialog.showForNewBookmarks into it (there are no spaces in it.) It will then show up underneath with either true or false next to it. If is says false double-click the word false and it will change to true.
If it's true already then there's another problem somewhere.

Thanks. I did what you said but I'm still unable to save current bookmarks and when I do a search for bookmarks, nothing shows up. If you're a developer with Firefox, please convey to their team - Stop messing around with things which work and Stop trying to fix something which isn't broke. I'm now very seriously exploring other browsers

I'm only a Firefox user like you, and one who shares your sentiments.

Thank you. After many years of being a loyal customer of Firefox, I've now begun the process of transitioning to Chrome. I don't think that the management of Chrome and their developers think about the inconvenience they cause for loyal customers when they mess with things which work well.
They seem to be more interested in just dreaming up the next big thing instead of listening to feedback from their customers.

The tag option is now not displayed by default unless you've tagged a bookmark, i.e. if you have at least one tag in the bookmark manager, then you'll have tags on the new bookmark pop-up.
