I am not sure if this helps: if you click on the status in the inbox (column status), the read status of the message is toggled (read / unread).

Interesting idea.As a side note: currently, you can completely isolate browsing with separate profiles, e.g. one for shopping, another one for news, etc.

As an option, this may be nice, but it must be possible to still show the prefix. It is generally bad to hide important information.
