Tl;dr: I would love to see Thunderbird (Currently known as K-9 Mail) also being brought to Apple devices.

The term privacy and open source have become well used and something of a reason for many to switch apps/services and even operating systems and devices. But in this day and age on Apple those options are lacking since many are stuck with Apple and having access to a well functioning and well designed e-mail app, with transparent/limited/no data collection from a trusted source is severely lacking since as a user you are basically stuck with the default Mail app, or Canary which seems to be what many recommends (i think because there simply is no better options currently) but in having used K-9 for several years on Android and now that i am currently on Apple i find myself lacking options.

But also with Canary moving to offering a more algorithmic and automated approach (it´s called Copilot and is pro/paid option) in handling of e-mail i think this will create a need for options. Personally even the look of the bottom toolbar is a annoyance since 1 icon is dedicated to the Copilot and no option to remove it. At least i cant find one.

So i hope this idea generates some discussion and for others to chime in on this.

If this suggestion is already somewhere else, or if this should be posted elsewhere then please point me to that place so i can add my vote.

I've been using Thunderbird for years on my Windows and MacBook. I pretty much love it! It would be great if I could use it on my iPad and iPhone!!

I've recently started to use Thunderbird on Windows and MacOS, it would be certainly great to also be able to use it on iOS.

Thunderbird for iOS - the sooner the better! I would welcome an initial version that doesn't include features such as tasks and calendar, which I don't use. Presumably I would be able to import all account settings from my desktop (now ver 115). I really, really want to get Tbird-based email on my iPhone and iPad. I don't do Facebook and that class of Social Media, so it would be very helpful if periodic news about availability could be embedded in Tbird, perhaps as a topic under Help.

Greetings! Very much looking forward to the IoS Thunderbird! Perhaps trivial, but for me most crucial is the search -function. Please do it well... Not sure if offline emails are a possibility, that would set Thunderbird apart from the rest. Thanks for the efforts and would be nice to hear about the progress so far.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to confirm that we're planning to hire our first iOS developer before the end of the year, and begin building the foundation for Thunderbird on iOS. We haven't made considerable progress on this front because Supernova (Thunderbird 115), Mozilla All Hands, and the ongoing work of rebuilding our UI has taken priority.

Also, we're gradually learning to under-promise and over-deliver, instead of the other way around 😀

All that being said, we'd like to have something for iOS users to experience by the end of 2024. I know that seems like a long wait, but it will fly right by.

Thanks for your patience as we work to make Thunderbird accessible on all platforms.
