I just wanted to update everyone that our team has started work on supporting Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (commonly abbreviated as CJK), both in terms of training these language models and ensuring that our platform can support these character sets.
We appreciate your patience and thank you for your continued support!
We are making progress. We have an experimental translation model from Korean to English in Firefox Nightly, and we are working both on the other direction (English -> Korean) and on improvements to this model.
I am happy to announce that starting in Firefox 135, which released yesterday, we now support translations from Korean.
This is only available on Firefox for Desktop at the moment. We are still working hard to improve some performance considerations before releasing this model on Firefox for Android.
However, if you would like to try it out on Android, you can do so in the Firefox Beta or Firefox Nightly applications available from the Google Play Store.
We are also working hard to add support for translations into Korean.
