Scroll Bar width in Thunderbird

Please fix the skinny scroll bars in Thunderbird.  I have tried everything in the about:config to no avail.  I can't go on with them having a thin width.  And keep them visible.

I followed these steps exactly, however the scrollbars remain barely 3-4 pixels wide. I am on macOS.

Please fix the skinny scroll bar. My eyesight is failing and have enough trouble seeing without the added stress of the scroll bar.

Yes, it would help immensely to have the scrollbars and the scrollbar arrows always visible. The parts of the scrollbar convey useful information to the user. And having well-defined scrollbar arrows again would be wonderful. UI elements that are visible! What a concept! Windows 7 had perfect scrollbars and at least having an option for something like that again would be wonderful.
