As a Home page option, allow users to "subscribe" to news outlets Yahoo, MSN, CNN, FoxNews, Scripps, Newsy, NASDAQ, USA Today, ESPN, etc. Then allow the user to have a listing of keywords to automatically return content from the selected sites based on the keyword list. Kind of like a stock ticker. Allow the user to set a timeframe for how far back to search. For instance news in the last 24hrs, 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, 1year. RSS feeds are an outdated option and lack the refinement.

Alright Firefox - I used to love your home page news feed and homepage story links.  Now about 50% of what your posting requires a subscription to some other service in order to read the article.  (New Yorker stories - case in point).  I don't want to pay for more subscriptions - period.   Either post stories with links we can read or don't post it at all.  I feel your trolling your users to make more money for your advertisers.  Stop it.
