Upgrading 126.0 to 127.0 (newest) immediately hang at 0% loading for Win10 Pro (64bit) Dell laptop

Had many times upgraded versions through Help/Help About on same laptop before...but now it won't upgrade any more. Tried upgrading Firefox 126.0 to 127.0, immediately hangs upon displaying loading 0%. Is the download not sending or is my machine no longer receiving? (Note: Plenty of other apps updated just fine!) What's causing download to hang?

What's my anti-virus? Windows Defender alone. Its setting to block potentially unwanted apps is turned off too. Its protection history log is empty.

What's my OS version? Opening a DOS command prompt showed: Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19045.4529]. I'm also current with Windows 10 latest June 2024 updates for 22H2. Nothing ancient.

This is when you open

menu button > Help > About Firefox

and Firefox shows progress in downloading the update?

I don't know what could cause that to fail, but you definitely do not want the original 127.0. Hopefully Firefox is trying to download the bug fixed version 127.0.2. (And Firefox 128.0 is releasing this week.)

It's also possible to update by downloading a full installer from the following page that allows choosing your preferred language/locale [this assumes you are not using the Microsoft Store version of Firefox]:

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

That installer should detect your current installation and update with your current data. But if you don't completely trust it, you can make a backup of your data using the steps in the following article:
