I am not a fan of the updates to Quickfilter in Thunderbird. In the past the Quickfilter would start at the most recent message and work backwards. This allowed me to easily choose the message I was looking for which was typically the most recent one, while it continued to work backwards. Also I believe there was a stop button which would stop the search and I could select from the found results. Neither exist now. Yes I know I can do an advanced search but the whole value of the Quickfilter was that it was...quick! Can we please roll it back to the old way?

Agree, the new behavior renders it almost impossible to use... You have to wait until most of the search is done, otherwise you will end up clicking other messages. This is everything but "quick" and really annoying. Please, please, please restore the old behavior!

Same here Quick is not Quick anymore. For me even it freezes the complete Thunderbird program.
Hope they will fix the problem with the Quick Filter.

I have those freezes when I am getting new mail - IMAP, too, not POP3.
I already know that I won't be able to write an email after opening Thunderbird, it'll need a minute or two to collect itself. Note that this didn't happen before, and that in between versions, I didn't feed it twice the amount of emails.

Quick filtering and message sorting is still broken in 128.1.1esr.
I am sorting my mailboxes first starred, new to old, then regular, new to old.
Using the quick filter, Thunderbird displays messages first starred, old to new, then regular, old to new.
Which basically makes the filtering unusable.
Add to that the "no clicking on results until the very last one is displayed, else you open different mails" issue.
(Is this the right place to flag these issues? Does any developer read along? Or is this like Apple or Microsoft forums that lead to nowhere?)

All of the above issues with Quick filters still exist in version 128.3.1. It's horrible, the advanced search seems at least reliable but still way too slow. I now had to archive all my Thunderbird email - just 15000 into MailStore Home - free app. If I do any body search within that program, I get a result in less than a second. Even if I include attachement content in my search. So, I know this can be achieved. Surely I don't want to keep a second program just for meaningfully fast and reliable searches. Please please make this an issue since keeping older emails is useless when they just disappear in storage and cannot be comfortably and quickly searched. Thanks

My bug query may be imperfect, but in a search for bugs created in the past few years that are open (unresolved) I do not find a description of any involving sort order. https://mzl.la/4eGN8cc. If you are seeing incorrect order please create a bug report.
Performance issues would be a separate category. If it reproduces with Windows started in safe mode, please obtain a performance profile using https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiling-thunderbird-performance and create a bug report.
Thanks!

Yesterday i downloaded Betterbird a fork of Thunderbird. And the Quick filter works much better.
Will try it a few days, but i probably this will replace my Thunderbird.

It's really very poor. I wait a long ago to see if it works like version 91 but nothing happens.
To understand what is happening do the following on an imap account (it happens to a pop too but is more impacted with the imap):
now you have a selected message details from the message you previously selected, but another one is marked, causing a lot of subsequent problems that the user can do, like deleting or forwarding a wrong message.
Hope it helps the fixes.
