I've been using Thunderbird (on Windows) for many years and I don't quite understand why it's not possible to use keyboard shortcuts to copy and paste the contents of a field in the contacts list?
For example, if I want to copy and paste John Smith's phone number, I can't use CTRL+C and CTRL+V after selecting it, but I have to use the context menu with the mouse to "copy" and then "paste".
It's very tedious ...
